Analytic Geometry is the second course in a sequence of three high school courses designed to ensure career and college readiness. The course embodies a discrete study of geometry analyzed by means of algebraic operations with correlated probability/statistics applications and a bridge to the third course through algebraic topics. (Georgia Department of Education)
The course is made up of 7 units. Units 1-3 will be taught during the first semester. Units 4-7 will be taught during the second semester.
Unit 1: Similarity, Congruence, and Proofs Unit 2: Right Triangle Trigonometry Unit 3: Circles and Volume Unit 4: Extending the Number System Unit 5: Quadratic Functions Unit 6: Geometric and Algebraic Connections Unit 7: Applications of Probability
A student's final grade in the class is found by averaging the 1st Semester Grade (average of 1st 9 Wks and 2nd 9 Wks grade) and the 2nd Semester Grade (avg of 3rd 9 Wks and 4th 9 Wks grade). This average will make up 80% of his/her final grade in the class. The GA Milestone end of course assessment score will make up 20% of the student's final grade.
